Sometimes when you turn on your computer or laptop you will see an error message CPU Fan Error Press F1 to Resume and to boot Windows. In the guide below, I’ll show you how to find out what caused the problem and fix it.
In general, the error text says that the diagnostic system BIOS has detected a problem with the CPU cooling fan. And often this is the cause of its appearance, but not always. Consider all the options in order.
Find out the cause of the error CPU Fan Error
For starters, I recommend to remember whether you have not changed the fan speed (cooler) using the BIOS settings or programs. Do time on your computer resets when you shut it down? it’s very common problem and I had the same with my old generation PC.

If you adjust the settings of the cooler, or recommend them to return to its original state, or to find the parameters under which the error CPU Fan Error will not appear.
If you reset the time on the computer, this means that the battery on the motherboard has also rest various other settings, including CMOS. In this case, you just want to replace it, more on this in the instructions Gets off time on the computer .
Check the cooler
If you believe that any error is not related settings (or your computer requires to press F1 from date of purchase), it is worth a look inside your PC by removing one side wall (left, seen from the front).
Check the following: clogged with dust fan on the processor, do not interfere with any other elements of its normal rotation. You can also turn on the computer with the cover off and see if it rotates. If you are seeing something out of this, fix and see if you still have the error CPU Fan Error.

Provided that you do not exclude the option of incorrect connection of the cooler, you should also check how it is connected. Commonly used with three conductive contacts, which is connected to three terminals on the motherboard (the case that 4), wherein the motherboard, they typically have a signature similar to the CPU FAN (may be comprehensible abbreviation). If it is not connected, it is necessary to correct it and then look for the error if it comes!!

Note: on some of the units have control functions or view the fan speed from the front panel, often for their operation must be “wrong” connection cooler. In this case, if you want to save these functions, please read the documentation for the system unit and the motherboard.
If none of this helps
If none of the options did not help to correct the error of the cooler, then there are different options: perhaps it stopped working sensor and need to replace it, perhaps, that there is something wrong with the computer’s motherboard.
In some embodiment, the BIOS, you can manually remove the warning message and the need to press the F1 key when the computer boots, but to use this opportunity costs only if you are absolutely sure that this does not result in problems with overheating. Typically, the setting item looks like «Wait for F1 if error». You can also (if appropriate) set the CPU Fan Speed in.

Also, look for the breakage in the wings of the fan of the cooler. This problem occurs many times and replacing the fan is the only solution. So, try opening the panel and check if the wing of the fan is broken or not? If it’s broken it will also make a bit different sound than usual!
